Calculator DA Arrears DA Rates FAQ

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026 · Applies to dacalculator.tech

In plain language. The DA calculator itself needs nothing from you — it runs entirely in your browser and your basic pay is never sent to us. We only collect your details if you choose to download a PDF salary report, or if you browse the site normally through web analytics. We do not sell your data, and we will delete it on request.

1. Who we are

DA Calculator India ("we", "us") operates the website dacalculator.tech. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described in this policy. For any questions or data requests, contact us at contact@dacalculator.tech.

2. Data we do NOT collect

Your calculation inputs — including your basic pay, DA rate, HRA city class and employee type — are processed entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. These values are never transmitted to our servers, never stored, and never logged. We cannot see them and we cannot recover them.

This is a deliberate design decision, not a policy promise: there is no server-side calculation endpoint.

3. Data we DO collect

3.1 If you download a PDF salary report (voluntary)

The report download is optional. If you choose to use it, we collect:

DataWhy we collect itLegal basis
Full nameTo personalise the PDF reportConsent
Email addressTo send the report and service emailsConsent
Job title / designationTo label the PDF reportConsent
Phone numberOptional. Only if you enter it — used for a one-time delivery confirmation where email is not sufficientConsent (optional)
A correction to our previous form. Earlier versions of this site required a phone number to download the report. Phone numbers are a verifiable identifier under the DPDP Act and consent for their processing must be specific and unbundled. We have made phone number optional. Leaving it blank has no effect on your report.

3.2 Analytics (automatic)

We use Google Analytics (via Firebase Analytics) to understand which pages are useful. This collects standard technical data: IP address (truncated by Google), browser type and version, device category, referring page, pages visited, and approximate location at country level.

Analytics does not capture what you type into the calculator. You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, and doing so will not affect the calculator's function.

3.3 Server logs (automatic)

Our hosting provider records standard request logs including IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent and response status, retained for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

4. How we use your data

  • To generate and deliver the PDF salary report you requested
  • To send you the report by email, and to contact you about a query you raised
  • To understand which tools and guides are useful, so we can prioritise what to build
  • To detect abuse, fraud and security incidents
  • To meet our legal and tax obligations as an Indian resident operator

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling for targeted ads, or automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We do not sell, rent or trade your data. We do not share it with advertising networks or data brokers.

5. Legal bases for processing (DPDP Act, s.7)

  • Consent — for the PDF report details and analytics cookies
  • Performance of a contract — to deliver a report you asked for
  • Compliance with law — for tax records and statutory obligations

6. Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you have the right to, free of charge:

  • Access — get a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected
  • Erasure — have your data deleted, and the deletion notified to anyone we shared it with
  • Nomination — nominate someone to exercise these rights if you are unable to
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting processing done before withdrawal
  • Grievance redressal — have your complaint acknowledged and resolved

To exercise any of these, email contact@dacalculator.tech with the subject "Data request". We will verify your identity before acting, respond within 30 days, and delete your data where you have asked us to.

7. Data retention

8. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar storage. The calculator sets none and works with storage disabled.

  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics / Firebase) — set only where you have consented
  • No advertising cookies. We run no ad networks, no remarketing pixels and no cross-site trackers

You can withdraw analytics consent at any time by clearing cookies for this domain, or by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

All processors are bound by contract to use your data only for the purpose we specify, to apply appropriate security, and to delete it when our engagement ends. We do not share your personal data with any other third party.

10. Security

We use HTTPS with HSTS across the entire site, strict security headers including X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff and X-Frame-Options: DENY, and a Content-Security-Policy. Report details are transmitted only over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify you and the relevant authority of any breach as required by the DPDP Act.

11. Children's privacy

This site is intended for adults and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

12. Your rights if you are outside India

Our audience is Indian Central Government employees and pensioners, and the site is operated from India. Visitors from elsewhere are welcome, but Indian law governs how we handle data here.

13. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change, and will revise the "last updated" date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use data you have already provided, we will email you or display a notice on the site before it takes effect.
